For young photographer and emerging filmmaker, Amalie Gassmann, the term ‘global citizen’ takes on special meaning. Born in San Francisco, raised in Paris, and college educated in upstate New York,  she’s trilingual (French, German, and English) and multicultural (her background is Japanese, German, and French), all of which informs her approach to storytelling.

With a background in fashion as an influential personality and clients that include Burberry, Fendi, Balmain, Dior, and Acne Studios, Amalie intimately understands the world of cutting-edge image making and has the eye and sensibility to bring a refreshing perspective to life.

At only 28 years old and with an impressive selection of published photography, Amalie’s images have been seen in Interview Magazine, Sports Illustrated and DSection magazine where she guest edited and shot a major feature for their 10th Year Anniversary issue. Within her work, Amalie is drawn to capturing the stillness and vulnerability of her subjects. There is a sense of narrative behind her photographs which is raw and cinematic.

At the same time as pursuing her work as a photographer and creative director for publications and brands, Amalie is passionate about films and filmmaking. With a recent degree in film production under her belt,  she just released her second short film online, titled ‘Mess Is Mine’ with Youtube star Cartia Mallan.

Fusing music with her narrative sensibility, she recently released a video called ‘L’Amoureu’ featuring the French artist, Tender Kid which was premiered online for Interview Magazine. This piece amplifies her sharp eye for composition whilst utilising and giving space to various environments.

With her endless passion for adventure and experience, Amalie handles each opportunity with great imagination and grace.
